Boxing legend Mike Tyson has ignited excitement with his recent training videos showcasing remarkable fitness and power as he gears up for a highly anticipated bout against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul this July. However, a lingering health concern  sciatica  could potentially throw a wrench into the multi-million dollar fight of Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul.

Can Sciatica Hold Boxing Legend Back?

Back in March, the boxing world buzzed as Paul and Tyson announced a fight scheduled for July 20th at the massive AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. With a potential audience of 80,000 fans, the fight is estimated to generate over $100 million. However, concerns regarding Tyson's ability to compete surfaced when a resurfaced video online depicted the 57-year-old using a walking stick.

Further fueling these concerns were sightings of Tyson using a wheelchair at an airport in 2022. Mike Tyson later revealed his diagnosis with sciatica, a painful back condition causing nerve irritation that radiates down the leg. This condition typically affects individuals between 30 and 50 years old.

"I get flare-ups with sciatica every now and then," Tyson explained in a Newsmax interview. "When it hits, I can barely speak! Thankfully, that's the only health issue I have." Despite past struggles, Tyson assures fans he's "splendid now" and expresses gratitude for his overall health.

Mike Tyson Fight Against Sciatica

Mike Tyson isn't alone in his battle with sciatica. UFC legends like Cain Velasquez and Anderson Silva have also opened up about their experiences with the condition. While the potential for future flare-ups remains, Tyson is putting in the work to be fight-ready for the 27-year-old Paul, a staggering 30 years his junior.

This upcoming fight marks Tyson's first return to the ring since his November 2020 exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. at the Staples Center. His last professional fight dates back to 2005. Nevertheless, Tyson's recent training videos, showcasing him hitting the heavy bag barehanded, suggest he's leaving his health troubles behind and pushing himself for the upcoming showdown.

Will Mike Tyson and his dedication to training be enough to overcome his sciatica and deliver a spectacular fight against Paul? Only time will tell. However, one thing's for certain: The buzz surrounding the Tyson vs. Paul fight is undeniable, and fans are eagerly awaiting fight night to see if the Iron Mike can recapture his former glory.
