Reports are swirling that retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce is in talks with WWE for a potential appearance at WrestleMania 40, the granddaddy of all wrestling events. Lincoln Financial Field, where Kelce played for 13 years with the Eagles, will host WrestleMania on April 6 and 7.
Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reported that WWE had contacted Kelce about a position at the two-night spectacle.
WWE is no stranger to bringing in A-list athletes for WrestleMania. The likes of Rob Gronkowski and Lawrence Taylor have made memorable appearances in the past. Gronkowski's epic clash with Jinder Mahal at WrestleMania 33 and Taylor's legendary main event battle with Bam Bam Bigelow at WrestleMania 11 are just a couple of examples.
Kelce, a Philadelphia icon and Super Bowl champion, is a natural fit for the WrestleMania spotlight. His impressive resume boasts seven Pro Bowls and six First-team All-Pro selections. Like Gronkowski, Kelce's charisma and contagious humor make him a fan favorite with crossover appeal beyond his athletic accomplishments.
WrestleMania 40 already boasts a stacked card with 13 matches scheduled, including the highly anticipated clash between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Kelce's involvement would only add to the electric atmosphere for fans.
Kelce hasn't commented on the WWE offer, but his appearance in the ring would please NFL and WWE fans. Kelce's impact on the game and fans is clear as he enters his post-NFL career. His loyal fans will support him in this exciting new chapter, whether he pursues professional wrestling or other endeavors.
