Ferrari came with a new challenger on their match waited car launch, the Reds unveiled online their brand new design just after Aston Martin. It, naturally, boasts another deep red livery, and Ferrari hopes it will signal a return to title contention as they seek their first constructors' championship since 2008 and their first drivers' championship since 2007.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be team mates for the fourth consecutive season in 2024, but the buildup to the new season has been dominated by the announcement that Lewis Hamilton would join Ferrari next year.
Indeed, Hamilton has decided to abandon his long-term collaboration with Mercedes in favour of a move to Maranello, and Sainz will be compelled to make way for the seven-time world champion, as Leclerc has recently signed a new contract.
After their brand new SF-24 unveil the focus of the team will be 24-race season ahead. Ferrari won the lone non-Red Bull race of 2023 during Frederic Vasseur's first stint as team manager.
During the team launch Vasseur stated: “Presenting a new car to the world for the first time is always a very exciting moment for me and the drivers, even if we are all already thinking about the moment we will go head to head with our rivals on track.". He also appraised the Ferrari's fans, “It’s often said that your fans can give you an extra gear and that will definitely be true in what will be a very closely contested championship and we are proud to know we can count on our ‘tifosi’ from around the world.”
The team confirmed that the new SF-24 will be out on track for filming, photographic, marketing and communications purposes, before the pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit from February 21-23.
This car launch by Ferrari marks a new era as they waiting a new season filled with many difficulties and pressure for the Italians.
