The Tennessee Titans are wasting no time getting acclimated under new leadership as coach Brian Callahan starts fast for them. With a week's head start granted by the NFL to new coaches, the Titans are making the most of their early offseason program.

Tennessee Titans Coach Brian Callahan Starts Fast

Leading the charge is first-time Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan, who isn't overlooking even the fundamental aspects of team building. Callahan emphasizes the importance of basic elements like huddling, recognizing that every extra minute is crucial in their quest to catch up to established teams.

This first week serves as a dual purpose for Callahan and his new coaching staff: part orientation and part introduction. Tennessee Titans new coach Callahan, replacing Mike Vrabel who was fired in January after two losing seasons, brings his own unique approach to the Titans organization.

Quarterback Will Levis is among the players actively participating in the early program. Tennessee Titans coach sees Levis, entering his second NFL season, as a leader not just for the offense but for the entire team. The former Kentucky standout spent part of his offseason training in California, and Callahan, who previously worked with Joe Burrow as Cincinnati's offensive coordinator, recognizes Levis' desire for greatness. Callahan has already observed positive signs in the young quarterback.

"He is front and center," Callahan said of Levis. "He takes notes, he asks questions and does all the things you'd want to see early in the process of a guy that's trying to improve his game and get better."

Callahan Emphasizes Leadership for Titans Quarterback Will Levis

The Tennessee Titans haven't shied away from making a splash in free agency this offseason. They acquired cornerback L'Jarius Sneed via trade with Kansas City and signed wide receiver Calvin Ridley, along with center Lloyd Cushenberry, running back Tony Pollard, and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie.

Offensive coordinator Nick Holz, who previously worked with Ridley when he was the Jaguars' passing game coordinator last season, expressed his enthusiasm for Ridley's return to the field following his suspension. Holz praised Ridley's work ethic, even acknowledging his occasional struggles with controlling his blazing speed.

"Sometimes he's so fast, he's out of control," Holz said. "But it's pretty impressive. So I think we'll be able to move him around a bunch. And him being a year further back into football, I think the transition for him will be pretty easy."

The task of replacing four-time Pro Bowl running back Derrick Henry falls on the shoulders of Pollard and Tyjae Spears, Tennessee's third-round pick from last year. Holz sees them as interchangeable pieces, allowing the Titans to keep their offensive plays unpredictable.

Brian Callahan to Install Entire Playbook, Then Adapt

The current plan for the Tennessee Titans offense is to implement the coach and his entire playbook and then tailor it to best suit the strengths of this particular team, especially with the NFL draft looming. Tennessee holds the coveted seventh overall pick.

"We really don't want to pigeonhole ourselves into anything at this stage," Holz said.

Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson couldn't hide his excitement when asked about the addition of Sneed alongside Awuzie in the secondary. With the AFC South's reigning champion, Houston, making a significant move by acquiring Stefon Diggs, Wilson remains focused on fortifying his own unit. He expressed confidence in his defensive personnel's ability to compete against the league's top wide receivers.

"For us to go up there and have guys that can compete that aren't scared of the competition, that's going to line up and challenge guys as a defense, it makes you a better defense," Wilson said.

The Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan is clearly establishing his vision and fostering a collaborative environment as the team gears up for the upcoming season. With a talented roster bolstered by free agency acquisitions and the upcoming draft, the Titans are poised to make a strong push for contention under Callahan's leadership.
